November’s club meeting was called to order at 7:00pm by Kirsten Watson in absentee of Jim Hoffman. Carol Swan gave the treasurer report. After deposits of membership dues and expenses’s from the October cookout we have now $829.50 in our checking account.
A lot of members showed up and enjoyed the October cookout. The public Star party at Givhan had a low turn out from the Public. Chris Morrow used the clubs Orion Star Shoot Video Camera that night with his Telescope and the images from Jupiter, star clusters and nebulas showed up sharp on the monitor. Money well spent!
Kirsten gave out information on the upcoming School Star party for Mason Preparatory School. It will be held at the Porter Gaud School. Also Jewel Brown from James Island Elementary School got in contact with Jim Hoffman and Kirsten asking for a School Star party in January. Robin Rutherford from Porter Gaud is getting back to Kirsten with the dates for their School Star party. Suggestions were made to try getting some of the Schools Star parties combined into one and at a mutual location. This way we would be able to accommodate the request with out having scheduling problems.
Also at our November 3rd meeting we decided to postpone the elections of club officers until December as no nominations for the vacating position on January 1st 2012 were made and no quorum of members were at the meeting. Dean was asked by Kirsten to take over contacting the members for the nomination - acceptances and if needed proxies from the members. As of this moment the following members were nominated for
President: Jim Hoffman,
Vice- Pres: Carol Swan,
Treasurer: Ron Winkle,
Secretary: Kirsten Watson.
Kirsten will get in contact with Jim Ellett to get the Club Grill, Telescope and other items he may have of the club.
Jim Hoffman had asked the members via e-mail prior to the meeting to think about what we as individuals would like to get out of the club? Also, what we individually are willing to do. The responses were: fellowship, camaraderie and friendship.
